While light gauge steel framing (LGSF) began gaining traction in the late 1990s and early 2000s, its full potential is only now being truly realised across the construction industry. LGSF offers a host of compelling benefits—from significant offsite prelim cost savings and accelerated on-site programmes to reduced carbon footprints and minimised ground loading through lighter structural demands.
At the heart of a successful LGSF project lies the seamless integration of three core stages: Design, Manufacture, and Installation. Achieving this requires not only technical coordination but also strategic procurement practices tailored to the unique requirements of each scheme.
Rockmount Group LGS, led by industry expert Carl Pepper, brings over 20 years of combined experience across all facets of LGSF and structural steel. Our team is equipped to deliver excellence through every phase, supported by:
- 25+ trained and proficient designers
- A dedicated 25,000 sq/ft manufacturing facility
- 56 skilled installation operatives
- Strong, experienced managerial leadership
This robust infrastructure allows us to maintain consistently high standards while driving innovation and efficiency in both light gauge and structural steel solutions.
DESIGN
Our industry-leading design team is made up of engineers and designers with over 15 years of experience in light gauge steel framing (LGSF). Located on-site at our production facility, they manage every stage of the design and manufacturing process, including coordination with downstream trades. Using cutting-edge Trimble Tekla software and premium Howick equipment, we ensure precision and consistency in every frame.
By drawing on the expertise of our wider group, we seamlessly incorporate structural steel and concrete into hybrid designs—enhancing strength and enabling broader spans where needed. Rigorous quality protocols ensure compliance with all dimensional, structural, and service standards. Our client-focused project management approach ensures all design outputs are reviewed and approved by Rockmount Management and the Principal Designer.
MANUFACTURE
Our 25,000 sq/ft production facility is capable of rolling up to 28,000 linear metres of Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) per week, equating to approximately 3,200 sq/m of output. In addition, we have the capacity to roll 25 tonnes of hot-rolled steel weekly, supporting our hybrid systems and enabling us to offer a complete, one-stop solution for all your steel construction needs.
Our production is managed by a team of 25 skilled operatives, collectively bringing decades of manufacturing experience. All structural steel fabrication and LGSF assembly are completed in-house using British-sourced raw materials and components, allowing for streamlined logistics and programme efficiency.
With seamless integration between our design software and rolling machines, we ensure full quality assurance and traceability throughout the process. This ensures your LGSF system is delivered with precision, on schedule, and within budget—meeting the highest standards of quality and performance.
INSTALLATION
Our site installation teams bring over 20 years of experience in all aspects of Light Gauge Steel Frame (LGSF) installation—from structural steelwork to external cladding and window installation. We deliver frames and floor cassettes fully assembled and decked, providing a safe, stable working platform from the outset.
To minimise waste and reduce reliance on cranes, external boarding is completed on site. By integrating production, delivery, and installation planning into the design phase, we streamline processes—cutting down on preliminaries and overall programme durations.
With ten dedicated installation teams, each capable of installing a minimum of 220 square metres of wall and floor area per week (depending on your plan and schedule), Rockmount ensures efficient, high-quality delivery. Every project is handed over with full quality assurance documentation and certification, ensuring precision and excellence from start to finish.
